![]() I've changed 100's of locksets so I know most of the little tricks to getting them apart. Remove the back cover from the wall and place the keypad in the alarm panel. No need to insulate these low voltage wires since the panel is powered down. Use a pair of wire cutters to clip each keypad wire where it connects to the wiring in the wall. ![]() Swing the front cover out and lift it up to disconnect it from the back cover. ![]() The covers are plastic and don't require tremendous pressure, but probably more than you might expect. I suggest holding the top of the unit while you do this. In the recessed area on the bottom of the keypad, about 1/4 of the way in from each side, use a small flat screwdriver and push up and pull toward you to release the hook on the front from the back. There is a recessed area around the edge of the keypad dividing the front/back covers. Keypads have a back cover mounted to the wall and a front cover with all the buttons. Remove one or both slip-on connectors from the backup battery in the panel.Ģ. Voltage is the same as most doorbells, so there is no danger. Remove one wire and insulate it with electrical tape. Locate the Transformer terminals (AC IN, 16.5V/60HZ, TRF11, TRF14, etc), probably terminals 1 and 2. On the inside of the door should be a graphic of the connections to the panel. Find the alarm panel (white metal box) and open it. Before doing anything, read everything here.ġ.
